About Us
Villa “La Casa del Poëta” stands impressively in the green hills of the medieval village Dolceacqua in the Italian Riviera with breathtaking views of beautiful mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.
Our Villa is a two-floor building, together with the guesthouse, suitable for 8 - 10 people. The Villa has 3 bedrooms with and a lounge room with a 2-person sleeping sofa. Each bedroom (including the lounge room) has its own luxurious bathroom. The guesthouse has 1 bedroom and its own bathroom.
At the construction of Casa del Poëta stones from the area have been used for the exterior as well as granite and marble. Upon entering the main Villa there is the generously sized living room with several panoramic windows overlooking the hills. This area is elegantly furnished with a comfortable sofa and chairs and a fireplace sculpted with marble. The living room has a beautiful design walnut open kitchen, fully equipped with a Miele espresso machine, a soundless dishwasher, a luxury oven and a 5 burner stove in a large kitchen island as well as a large granite dining table sitting 12 people. The Villa's furniture is a well-done combination of Italian contemporary design and vintage antique. The walls are covered with fine paintings, photographs or lithographs.
Our Views
The living room and the lounge room have a set of French doors opening to the terrace as well as 6 windows filled with natural light and beautiful views. All doors and windows have electric shutters. The lounge room has a fireplace and a large flat screen TV. The lounge room is separated from the living by a set of large glass/steel doors with curtains suitable as an extra bedroom.
The Villa is equipped with WiFi, DVD player, CD/tuner set and B&W Zeppelin Air speaker (wireless) with a wireless connections to your i-phone, i-pad, i-pod and laptop. We have a separate laundry room with a washer, dryer and an extra refrigerator.

Each bedroom has French doors to the lower terrace with beautiful views on the valley and the mountains. The master bedroom has a flat screen TV as well as a large bathroom en suite with bath, walk-in shower, two marble sinks, heated towel rack, toilet and bidet. The second bedroom has a bathroom en suite with two marble sinks, shower, heated towel rack and toilet. The third bedroom has a separate entrance via the lower terrace and has a bathroom en suite with a design sink, shower, heated towel rack and toilet. All bedrooms have their own wardrobe and two nightstands. All beds can be double beds or two single beds.
Casa Mondriaan
Casa Mondriaan is the annexe of the Villa. This small guesthouse sits two terraces above the Villa, so both houses preserve their own privacy. The guesthouse has a living room (including a sleeping sofa) with an open kitchen, a separate bedroom as well as a bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. The guesthouse is suitable for two persons or a couple with a child. At the Eastern terrace of Casa Mondriaan there is an outdoor grill and a built in pizza oven. Under the pergola you will also find a very large table with ceramic tiles suitable for 20 people.
Views, fruit threes and olive grove
The Villa has several terraces, each offering its own beautiful view and equipped with outdoor furniture, such as granite tables and Philip Starck chairs. Directly from the living through the French doors you will enter the main terrace with the swimming pool. There is also a large granite table with 12 chairs where you can enjoy lunches and dinners under a pergola.
From the swimming pool you also have great views of the surroundings. To the South, through the pine trees, you can see the Mediterranean Sea and the coastal village Vallecrosia. The swimming pool has led-lighting, which can be programmed at different colours. There are two outdoor showers, one next to the swimming pool and one at the lower terrace.
On the terraced grounds of approx. 2,5 acres you will find many olive trees, grapevines and some fruit trees. Each year we make our own olive oil that we leave at the Villa for you to taste, which is very delicate because of the many sun hours and the special soil; known as one of the best in Italy! In season you can use lemons and herbs from the garden.
You will reach the Villa via its private road of almost 1 kilometre, entering the Villa’s secured remote controlled gate. Because of its special location you will have undisturbed privacy, but with the mundane world nearby. Monaco, San Remo and Nice are all within a 45-minutes drive.

It is possible to have your dinners catered or to have an Italian cooking workshop organised at our VIlla by a Dutch speaking Italian cook!
